{"id":898,"date":"2014-04-16T19:39:50","date_gmt":"2014-04-16T23:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mrhost.ca\/system\/?p=898"},"modified":"2014-04-16T19:40:05","modified_gmt":"2014-04-16T23:40:05","slug":"update-about-the-heartbleed-bug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrhost.ca\/system\/2014\/04\/update-about-the-heartbleed-bug\/","title":{"rendered":"Update About the Heartbleed Bug"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is just a quick note to all our Mr.Host customers about the <a href=\"http:\/\/heartbleed.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heartbleed<\/a> bug that has been making its ways around the internet and all over the media lately.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-899\" src=\"http:\/\/mrhost.ca\/system\/content\/2014\/04\/heartbleed-247x300.png\" alt=\"heartbleed\" width=\"247\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mrhost.ca\/system\/content\/2014\/04\/heartbleed-247x300.png 247w, https:\/\/mrhost.ca\/system\/content\/2014\/04\/heartbleed.png 341w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 247px) 100vw, 247px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not familiar with the Heartbleed bug, there is a really good explanation of the bug on the <a href=\"http:\/\/heartbleed.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">heartbleed.com<\/a> website. In short, it&#8217;s a software bug in certain versions of encryption software called OpenSSL. This bug only affected a handful of versions of OpenSSL, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">none of which are currently in-use, or have ever been in-use by Mr.Host<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve done an exhaustive verification of all of our servers, network hardware- anything that might have OpenSSL libraries installed, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>none<\/strong><\/span> have used these versions of this software, now, or in the past. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>So Mr.Host is not, and has never been affected by this bug.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>That being said, customers always have the ability to change their passwords via the <a href=\"https:\/\/members.mrhost.ca\/ccp\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mr.Host Customer Control Panel<\/a>; and Mr.Host recommends customers use strong password of at least 8-16 characters, with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.Host takes customer security seriously. Our signup process, <a href=\"https:\/\/members.mrhost.ca\/ccp\/\" target=\"_blank\">Control Panel<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/members.mrhost.ca\/mail\/imp\/login.php\" target=\"_blank\">Web-Mail services<\/a> are all protected by high level encryption.
